Stock Market FTSE 100 Index Reaches 6000

17 March 2006

The Stock Market FTSE 100 index has gone over 6000 this morning for the first time since year 2000. It is not suggested that it will never go down but investors in equities over the last three years have seen their savings nearly double, whereas those with bank deposits have had to be content with about 4-5% pa at best.

Although the FTSE 100 peaked at 6700 in 2000, some funds are considerably higher than their 2000 levels, which indicates that good advice and careful stock/fund picking rather than index tracking pays off.
