HIPs Update

24 May 2007

On 22 May 2007, the Government announced that Home Information Packs (HIPs) which were due to be introduced on 1 June 2007 are to be delayed until 1 August, 2007.

There will be a phased introduction. Initially, HIPs will only be required for 4 bedroom properties or larger. No timetable has yet been announced in respect of smaller properties.

Until 31 December, 2007, properties can be marketed as soon as a HIP is commissioned and, as a temporary measure, the Energy Performance Certificate can be up to 12 months old when a property is put up for sale.

Further information will be posted as and when it becomes available to us. If in the meantime you wish to discuss the above, please contact Elaine Gates or a member of her team on 01753 774010.
