Rehabilitation & Support

One of our principal aims is to obtain an interim payment, wherever possible, for our clients so that much needed rehabilitation can be received before the conclusion of a case. Rehabilitation can range from a number of courses of physiotherapy to residential treatment at a brain injury rehabilitation centre.

Whatever the injury our expertise and strong links with rehabilitation providers means that we are fully committed to ensuring that clients needs are assessed by the appropriate experts and that treatment is received as soon as possible in appropriate cases.

We work with occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, care providers, case managers, psychologists, pain management centres, brain injury rehabilitation centres to name but a few.

In one of our cases, our client was able to attend a six month treatment programme at the Oliver Zangwill Centre, a renowned brain injury rehabilitation centre situated in Cambridgeshire, before the end of her case as a result of us securing an interim payment to meet the cost of such treatment.

In another case a client sustained a fractured pelvis which required a total hip replacement. He was able to receive the physiotherapy treatment he needed to assist his physical recovery and occupational therapy following the receipt of an interim payment we negotiated on his behalf. The occupational therapist assessed his needs and made recommendations in relation to the type of equipment he needed to assist his daily life. The equipment he purchased from the funds of the interim payment eased some of the difficulties he was experiencing with, for instance, bathing and dressing, which made a real difference to his everyday life.

In another case we successfully negotiated a substantial interim payment before the matter went to trial on behalf of a client who sustained a spinal cord injury. This allowed him to purchase a number of aids and equipment, not least a much better lightweight wheelchair than the one he was given by the NHS. In addition he was able to employ a case manager who assisted in implementing a 24 hour care package. This meant that the client was able to make decisions about how he ran his own life, namely he was at last able to choose what time he woke up in the morning and when he went to bed at night, decisions which most of us take for granted.

Taking back the independence he lost after the accident meant that his quality of life improved and he regained interest in the hobbies he had before the accident. He also went on a two week holiday, something he had been unable to do since the accident.
