Dean is a Principal within Harris Cartier LLP. He specialises in Commercial Litigation and in Litigation for Victims of accidents resulting serious spinal cord injury, brain injury or fatal injury.
As an example of his catastrophic injury work, Dean has previously worked on the cases of Bisheuvel –v- Birrell 1999 PIQR Q40 (£9.2 million award for a tetraplegic), Dashiell –v- Luttit LTLP 1999 (£5.2 million awarded for brain injury) and acted for the Claimant in Owen –v- Brown 2001 (£4.3 million for spinal injury).
Dean's current practice involves acting for clients based throughout England and Wales. His work has included being instructed by the Official Solicitor to act on behalf of people who have sustained brain injury. He also supports people whose injuries have rendered them Patients under the Mental Health Act, by acting as Professional Trustee and Professional Receiver.
Dean also supports some of the Charities which focus on helping victims of serious injury, (including Headway and Backup) and this has involved parachute jumps and more recently, competing in a half marathon.
With regard to commercial litigation Dean has acted for companies, Directors and shareholders in cases including high value joint venture litigation, complex high value debt litigation, high value commercial property litigation and litigation concerning breach of directors duties. Many of these cases have involved multi-million pound disputes.
Dean believes that his primary consideration should always be "dispute resolution". As an example he was involved in a commercial property dispute with Barratt Homes that settled shortly after mediation.
